It began as a love story:
Meet The Spirit of Indulgence—a cult fine jewelry brand cast in gold and audacity.
How it started...
In the early days of their relationship — dizzy with love, lust, and her own wild energy — Cate would snatch a kiss from her now-husband, then bolt out the door (perpetually late) for another shift at the cafe. Her parting words, hollered over her shoulder like a battle cry: “It’s all in the spirit of indulgence!!”
Part protest, part celebration. Everything and nothing, all at once.
“It’s in the spirit of indulgence!” — a defiant answer to a world obsessed with ROI, productivity, and productivity and reason. Cate gave new meaning to "reason", and has spent every moment grasping for it since, with the simple resolution to live deliciously.
That phrase never left. It became the foundation of the brand.
Meet Cate Saunders
Founder, Designer, Rulebreaker
Cate didn’t set out to become a jeweler — but it was always in her blood. Both her biological mother and grandmother, whom she didn’t meet until adulthood, are jewelers. Somehow the stars aligned and fire, metal, and hammers became second nature
What started as a curiosity turned into an obsession with permanence: of memory, of mood, of material. Cate believes in jewelry that lasts forever—and says something while it’s here.
Under Cate’s direction, TSOI has grown into a cult icon in the world of alternative fine jewelry. Her designs don’t whisper; they yell. From heirloom signets to punk-leaning wedding bands and charms for days—every piece is a small rebellion and testament to the relentless pursuit of joy in precious metal.
These days, she makes it all from a Seattle casting studio she built with her partner. If you’re looking for polite little trinkets, keep it moving. If you’re after pieces with guts and a story? Welcome home.
¹ Rebellion in Gold
Cate didn’t come here to play nice. She’s a fine jewelry founder with a legacy in her blood and a torch in her hand—designing jewelry for the unapologetic, the bold, and the unforgettable.
² Made with intention
Her pieces have been called “future heirlooms for the fiercely sentimental,” designed as talismans and reminders of strength, power, celebration and love.
³ Sustainability
Made using recycled gold, her work rejects performative sustainability and greenwashing. Designed to last lifetimes, these small celebrations of life are the antithesis of fast fashion.
